The student who presents a thesis must enroll for at least 6 credit hours of thesis. After a qualifying exam is failed for a second time, the student is terminated from the program. Each form must be signed by all required signees and received by the Graduate School before the student will be given permission to upload the final PDF in the Scholarly Repository.

In those cases where the program deems it necessary that the student have competency in a foreign language, the student will be required to demonstrate such competence by examination in one or more languages. Theses and Dissertations

The dissertation may be written in a language other than English at the recommendation of the dissertation committee and with the approval of the program and the Graduate School. Performance level is set at host institution.

A minimum of 12 dissertation credit hours must be taken.

Master's Degree

A thesis or dissertation committee cannot be chaired by a person unless they hold a higher or equivalent degree as the candidate for the graduate degree. All signatures on the three forms are collected electronically via the Dynamic Forms system; the student initiates and manages the completion of the three forms.

Credit hour transferred is subject to the same recency rules as all other credit hour counted toward the degree, and is also subject to examination by the program. Signees should sign the form after the defense has taken place. The student must be admitted to candidacy before the defense of dissertation is scheduled.

The duties of the thesis committee are similar to those of the dissertation committee. Graduate students studying for the Ph. Exceptions to the committee composition may be approved by the Chair of the Department and Dean of the Graduate School.

Tuition and fees are to be paid at the home institution. It is appropriate for the chairperson to consult with the student regarding the membership of the committee.
